This trip to Slide Rock State Park in Oak Creek Canyon will yield more than just our avian friends. Spend the morning birding among the apples trees. Then take a break to learn how this historic orchard is being transformed into an organic oasis. The bird life prospers, and in the fall, the apples are delicious. Rob Lantze will explain the how and why’s of this resource friendly program. You just may want to come back in September for their annual Apple Fest. Birds to see include black-hawk, American dipper, bridled titmouse, canyon wren and painted redstarts.
