Stoneman Lake is one of the two natural lakes in Arizona. On this trip we travel up the rim to Ponderosa pine country then drop into the lake’s crater. Here is some of the best bird and critter watching in the state. Birding will include a variety of woodland species. We will indulge in a delicious brunch at the Stoneman Lake Lodge. Homesteaded in the 1800s, the property has been recently renovated into a private B&B. This environmentally friendly inn, with the goal of impacting the pristine surroundings as minimally as possible, is powered by the sun and wind. They feature healthy foods, non-toxic cleaning chemicals, and build with natural materials. Meals are locally grown and organic whenever possible. This is a place you will want to know more about. Try to get in some more birding before heading back down to the valley.
