| The Upper Verde River Wildlife Area was purchased by the Arizona Game and Fish Department for the protection of native fish and the riparian habitat. This area is the headwaters of the Verde River and several of the source springs for the river originate on the property. We will drive to the Little Thumb Butte B&B that perches on a ridge overlooking the site. Here learn about the issues surrounding this vital resource. After exploring we will enjoy a delicious lunch served at the ranch. We will continue on to the new public access where wildlife is abundant and the lush riparian habitat provides an important migration corridor for a large number of bird species. |
